The Georgia Court of Appeals denied Mark Taylor’s application for discretionary appeal as well as his motion for reconsideration. Taylor requested appeal of a probation revocation order issued by Superior Court Judge Katherine Lumsden on July 17, 2008 sentencing him to four and a half years in prison. The trial court found that Taylor had violated his probation on ten counts, including the commission of new felony offenses, violating banishment, failing to report to probation, and leaving the state without permission. Taylor was on the run for six months before he was finally caught due to the efforts of the Houston Circuit State Probation Office and local law enforcement personnel. At the probation revocation and on appeal, Taylor was represented by Lawrence Guillory of Warner Robins. The State was represented by District Attorney Kelly Burke and Assistant District Attorney Joshua Morrison. Taylor has subsequently filed a request to be heard in the Supreme Court of Georgia. A decision on that issue is pending.

The Georgia Court of Appeals has denied Cecil Ray's request for reconsideration in Case A08A0714. Ray received a 45 year prison sentence in 2004 for Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute. Due to Ray's three previous felony convictions, the entire sentence must be served without the possibility of parole.
