Houston County District Attorney

Joshua Morrison heads the Post-Conviction unit of the Houston District Attorney's Office which handles all appellate issues, probation revocations, preliminary hearings and prosecutes a variety of felony cases. Born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Josh graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee in 2002 with a B.A. in Political Science. He attended the Emory University School of Law in Atlanta with a full academic scholarship and graduated in 2005. Josh began his prosecutorial career as an intern in the Atlanta District Attorney's Office in 2005. He joined the Waycross District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney in early 2006 with the child support division. He was finally able to fulfill his dream of prosecuting felony criminal cases when he joined the Houston District Attorney's Office in 2007. Josh is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Bar of the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Bar of the Georgia Supreme Court and the Bar of the United States Court for the Southern District of Georgia and has handled cases in both state court, federal court and at the appellate level. Josh is currently in his third year of practice.
