Making Meth Gets 24 Years

DANNY DUANE FRAZIER, 43, of Oasis Avenue, Warner Robins, GA, pleaded guilty today in Houston Superior Court to one count of MANUFACTURING METHAMPHETAMINE just moments before a jury was to be selected to hear his case.

Frazier was sentenced to Twenty-Four (24) years and ordered to serve Eight (8) of those years in prison. In addition to the prison time, Frazier was ordered to pay a Two Thousand dollar ($ 2,000.00) fine plus numerous additional fees. Frazier was also banished from Houston County for the entire 24-year sentence. Frazier had been indicted for Manufacturing and Trafficking Methamphetamine but was allowed to enter a plea to just Manufacturing. The Trafficking charge was dismissed as part of Frazier’s sentence. Frazier, who had no prior felony convictions, had an active Methamphetamine lab and approximately 16 grams of methamphetamine when arrested on April 6, 2005.

On April 6, 2005, agents with the Southeast Regional Fugitive task Force went to 302 Oasis Avenue looking for Eva Marie Hutchinson who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. After being let in the residence, agents discovered what they believed was a clandestine Methamphetamine lab. Narcotics investigators with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office responded and obtained a search warrant for the residence. An active meth lab was found in a bathroom cabinet. Deputies also found a metal lockbox that contained a significant amount of Methamphetamine. They also found various recipes for methamphetamine and a diary that contained details of previous meth cooks. Hutchinson was not at the residence at the time. The three people who were present, Frazier and co-defendants Samantha Rainey and Steven Clanton, were all arrested and charged with manufacturing. Rainey and Clanton’s cases remain pending.

COMMENTS FROM SENIOR ASSISTANT DA GEORGE HARTWIG:“Anytime you have a meth lab, it is a very dangerous situation,” said Sr. ADA Hartwig. “We’ve had someone killed in Houston County making meth,” Hartwig said. “Hopefully, this prison sentence will send a very strong message to other meth cooks in the area–if we catch you, you’re going to prison,” added Hartwig.

The sentence was imposed by Judge Katherine Lumsden who accepted the guilty plea in Houston Superior Court this morning.  Frazier was prosecuted by George H. Hartwig III, Senior Assistant District Attorney, and Timothy Marlow, Assistant District Attorney, Houston Judicial Circuit. Duane Frazier was represented by attorney Fred Graham of Warner Robins, GA.
