Information:

Senior Assistant District Attorney George Hartwig joined the Houston DA’s Office in July 2001. George graduated cum laude from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 1991. He received a B.A. in Criminal Justice from University of Florida in 1988. Prior to joining the DA’s Office, George practiced civil law in Macon for ten years (1991-2001), including seven years at his own firm, Knott & Hartwig, LLP. George also has extensive law enforcement experience, including undercover narcotics investigations. He was a police officer in Broward County, Florida, from 1978 to 1984, where he served in various capacities, including Broward Sheriff’s Municipal Deputy, Sergeant and undercover drug agent. George also served as a Captain on the Charlotte County (FL) Sheriff’s Office where he was commander of several units, including VOCC (narcotics), Traffic & Crime, and Marine Patrol. George is currently the supervising attorney in the Houston District Attorney’s D.A.W.G. Unit (Drugs and Weapons/Gangs).
