Kidnapper receives 10 years without parole for March attack

A Warner Robins man pled guilty in Houston Superior Court to kidnapping for an attack on his estranged wife that happened last March. Jabari Hikene Fields, 23, of 135 Ignico Drive pled guilty to one count of kidnapping for participating along with two other co-defendants in abducting his then wife, putting her in handcuffs, forcing her into the trunk of car, and forcing her to withdraw money from an automated teller machine. Two other co-defendants are awaiting trial for their role in the crime. Judge Katherine K. Lumsden sentenced Fields to a twenty-year term, requiring him to serve at least 10 years without parole. Assistant Public Defender Bennett Willis represented Fields.

Former Houston County teacher gets more jail time

Mark Taylor, a former Houston County schoolteacher convicted last year of intimidating his former fiancee, was ordered Thursday to spend the remainder of a five-year sentence in prison, with his probation revoked, according to the Houston County district attorney.

LAVERN ERNEST HOOKER, 17, of 811 South Hwy 247, Bonaire, Georgia, pled guilty this morning in Houston Superior Court to one count of Robbery By Force and one count of Possession Of A Knife During Commission Of A Crime. Judge Katherine Lumsden sentenced Hooker to twenty (20) years of which he will have to serve ten (10) years in prison.
