We want to compile a playlist of rock'n'roll songs that have a crime theme in them.

There are probably hundreds of songs out there, so give us your favorites. We'll update the list (in alphabetical order by artist first name) from time to time.

For instance, a great song is Jimmy Buffett's The Great Filling Station Holdup. Or Eric Clapton's I Shot The Sheriff (I know, I know, Marley did it first, but Clapton's version is more famous). Or Bobby Fuller's I Fought The Law (And The Law Won). So give us your picks by filling in the comment section below. A basic rule will be that we want songs people have heard of. It doesn't have to have made the charts, but at least a song or group that people know.

By the way, Eric Clapton's Cocaine is a drug song, not a crime song. While Cocaine is illegal, nothing in the song or title connotes a crime aspect to the song. This is not a drug playlist, it is a crime playlist. A song should have some crime reference in it.

you can find this song on their album WHITEY FORD SINGS THE BLUES....this song has alot of references to crimes in it including robbing your mother, murdering kids, writing bad checks, sticking up folks...it describes what happens when your life is controlled by drugs and the things people do to get drugs. its a very powerful song describing a sad reality.

8. No Rap Songs
This is intended to be list of rock'n'roll songs about crime, we are therefore not listing rap songs. That would be another list for another time. Nothing against rap, but we're trying to stay focused on rock'n'roll on this list.

10. In The Air Tonight
From Wikipedia, the source of wisdom for current events: Collins wrote the song in the wake of a failing relationship with his then-wife. Collins has described obtaining the drum machine specifically to deal with these personal issues through songwriting, telling Mix magazine: "I had to start writing some of this music that was inside me."
