LAVERN ERNEST HOOKER, 17, of 811 South Hwy 247, Bonaire, Georgia, pled guilty this morning in Houston Superior Court to one count of Robbery By Force and one count of Possession Of A Knife During Commission Of A Crime. Judge Katherine Lumsden sentenced Hooker to twenty (20) years of which he will have
to serve ten (10) years in prison.
The remainder of his sentence will be served on probation. Hooker will remain under State supervision until 2027. He was further required to pay restitution for the theft, get his GED, and not participate in gang activity.
Warner Robins police responded to an armed robbery called at the BB&T Bank on October 25, 2007. The victim was robbed at knife point while making the nightly deposit for Sonic. After an investigation led by Officer Brad Triplett and Detective Karen Stokes, police were able to identify Hooker and a Michael Schulzkump as the perpetrators.
COMMENTSFROM ASSISTANT DA JOSHUA MORRISON: “Police verified the co-defendant’s statement, discovering where the defendants had disposed of their masks in a burn pile at his house. Further, Hooker’s confession to a friend sealed the case. Thanks to the great work of the Warner Robins Police Department, especially Detective Karen Stokes, a violent criminal is now off of our streets,” said Morrison.
Hooker’s case was prosecuted by Jason E. Ashford, Chief Assistant District Attorney and Joshua D. Morrison, Assistant District Attorney, Houston Judicial Circuit.
