Case management system: The online case access system is now exceeding 300 requests per day on occasion, and is averaging over 275 cases per weekday. That means that almost 300 people a day are viewing the online case access system to see the status of a pending case in this office. Our case access system shows defendant information, court calendar information, charges that have been filed, and a disposition if one has been entered.
Below is a example of a recently closed case.

Kelly Burke, District Attorney: "Online case access serves two major goals of this office. First, it makes us more transparent to the public that we serve. The criminal justice system is often viewed as a mystery because unless you are part of it, people assume it is like it is portrayed on television. CSI, Law & Order and Judge Judy might be entertainment, but they aren’t real life. Case access shows people what is really going on in our cases. Second, by giving the public this information on the web, we reduce the demands made on our office staff answering the public’s questions about cases. That frees my staff to do what we do best, which is prosecute cases. The fact that we are now averaging almost 300 hits a day on our case access system is amazing. We want to find more ways to serve the public, so we are constantly looking for new and innovative methods of getting information out to the masses. The fact that we are the only prosecutor's website that puts all of its cases on the Web is interesting, but we hope that by leading the way we can assist other offices in getting more web accessible."
