We have now posted more than 400,000 pages of material to our nationally recognized data management system.
Our case management system, LawDog, is the only prosecutor designed case management system in the country that is 100% digital. As information is obtained by our office in a case, we post all the case documents, videos, audio calls, photographs and any other digitized evidence to our database. That information is then readily available to anyone accessing our database. Defense attorneys are then able to access that material, which we call "discovery", online for any of their clients. Providing discovery in this manner is faster, cheaper and far less prone to errors. So far the results have been very positive.
We began full scanning of documents on April 1, 2008, and before the expiration of the year we have already scanned 400,000 pages of material. We have posted approximately 2TB (terabytes) of video and audio to the database. Everything is backed up on multiple devices in the event of a computer failure or disaster. We are excited about our progress, the cost savings and the efficiency it brings to our office.
